Syracuse Football Recruiting: Several New Offers Out As Dead Period Nears End

The Coaching Staff has been busy preparing for the final push to National Signing Day

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

The "dead period" in the recruiting calendar ends January 13th and the Syracuse Orange coaching staff are sending out scholarship offers left and right. It's clear from the offers that Coach Babers is trying to pull in as many offensive weapons as possible.

As noted earlier, Syracuse had already targeted wide receivers DeVaughn Cooper and Desmond Fitzpatrick. Both received offers earlier this week, and Fitpatrick will be visiting Hanuary 22nd. Cooper's teammate at Narbonne High School in California, Sean Riley, received an offer as well. Riley is a running back/athlete who is 5'9" 170 lbs. and lightning quick. Cooper, Riley and teammate Cedric Byrd will be visiting Syracuse January 16th. Riley and Cooper are both Arizona commits, but Arizona recently asked Riley to grey shirt (meaning wait until the Spring of 2017 to enroll), leading both Cooper and Riley to look elsewhere.

Jawon Hamilton also received an offer from Orange. Hamilton is a 5'9" 180 lbs. running back from South Dade High School in Miami Florida. Hamilton was committed to Miami; however he de-committed on January 4th. Hamilton is still considering Miami, along with Louisville, Central Florida, and Kansas. He has officially visits set up to Orlando on January 15th and to Lawrence on January 29th. Hamilton is rated three stars.

Running back Adrian Killins also netted a Syracuse offer. Killins is a 5'8", 175 pounder from Mainland High School in Daytona Beach Florida. He is currently committed to Central Florida and also has offers from Miami, West Virginia, Iowa State, Kansas, and South Florida among others. Killins is rated three stars and has scheduled a visit to Syracuse on January 29th.

Jerron Rollins is a 6'2" 175 lbs. wide receiver from Columbus High School in Miami Florida. He has offers from Miami, Indiana, Louisville, Pittsburgh, NC State among others. Syracuse's current staff recruited Rollins while at Bowling Green. As a result of that existing relationship, Syracuse is considered to be Rollins Top 4, along with FAU, Indiana and Louisville. Rollins is rated three stars.

Outside linebacker/safety Rashad Smith received a scholarship offer yesterday as well.  Smith is 6'2"' 185 lbs. and plays for Homestead High School in Florida. He is currently committed to Florida Atlantic University and previously had a Bowling Green offer. He is now scheduled to visit Syracuse on January 22nd. Smith is rated three stars by 24/7 and two stars by Scout.

Syracuse also offered Offensive Lineman Tom Kowalkowski. Kowalkowski is 6'5" 275 lbs. and plays at Catholic Central High School in Novi, Michigan. Kowalkowski is currently committed to Boston College and also has offers from Ball State, Cincinnati, Miami (OH), Toldeo and Western Michigan.
