Last year, Alex Bono made history, as the first Syracuse Orange Men's Soccer player to be called up to the US Men's National Team. At this point you can tell he made a lot of history. After a standout season, true freshman center back Miles Robinson was called up today to the US Men's National Team youth setup and the January camp for the U-20 squad.
Robinson started every match for the Orange this year. He netted four goals on the year and is noted as being extremely dangerous off of a set piece. He was a first team selection on both College Soccer News and TopDrawerSoccer.com's Freshman All American lists. He also was honored with ACC All-Tournament selection and ACC All-Freshman team honors.
He and fellow freshman Hendrick Hilpert and Kamal Miller, as well as RS Junior Louis Cross anchored a very young, but extremely talented defense which stymied opposing attacks all season. The team posted nine shutouts on the season, en-route to the ACC Tournament Championship and National Semifinals in the College Cup.
