Devon Modster is a 6'2", 215 lbs. QB from Tesoro High School in Rancho Santa Margarita, California. Modster is a consensus 4-star recruit and is rated the 11th dual threat best QB and the 237th best prospect in the 2016 Class by Rivals.
Modster committed to the University of Arizona back in April; however he decided to re-open his recruiting on Thursday. The Syracuse Orange staff seized upon the opportunity and were immediately in touch with Modster. Co-Offensive Coordinator and QB Coach Sean Lewis spoke to Modster yesterday to tell him that Syracuse was interested. After speaking with Modster's coaches at Tesoro and getting a feel for the type of student-athlete Modster is, Defensive Backs Coach Nick Monroe contacted Modster with a scholarship offer today.
Other than Arizona and Syracuse, Modster has offers from Arizona State, Boise State, Cal, Colorado State, Oklahoma State, UCLA and Washington State among others. Oklahoma State offered Modster on December 23rd, shortly before he de-committed from Arizona.
Scout analyst Greg Biggins said Modster "shows off a strong, down field arm and can put the ball in tight windows. He shows poise in the pocket and has an even keel mentality and won't be easily rattled. He's also a plus athlete who has very good mobility in the pocket, the strength to shrug off would be tacklers and the ability to run for positive yards." Let's take a look at his highlight reel:
