Syracuse Football Recruiting: 4-Star OG Stewart Reese Announces Decision Next Monday

This could be a huge get for the Orange, if you didn't already know...

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

The Syracuse Orange have managed to put together a pretty nice recruiting class for 2016, but are still looking to close out those last few spots with strong additions. One of those possible additions is offensive guard Stewart Reese, a 4-star prospect from Fort Pierce Central High School (Fort Pierce, Fla.), about two hours north of Miami. He stands at 6-foot-6 and 333 pounds as a high school senior -- a player who could be immediately plugged into the SU line as needed.

Reese visited the Syracuse campus back on the weekend of January 15, and told Syracuse.com at the time that he came off highly impressed with the program. He connected well with the coaching staff (Nick Monroe led the charge) and that's been the going narrative in recent weeks as the Orange were suddenly inserted as the frontrunner to land him.

After Mississippi State visited him in-home yesterday, some recruiting analysts believe that the Bulldogs could be trending up for Reese. But with Syracuse visiting today, that could potentially change quickly. Either way, we'll know soon enough.

As he revealed to Scout's Corey Bender in the video here (sorry, won't embed), he's set his decision date for this coming Monday, February 1. He's also cancelled his official visit to Illinois this weekend (womp womp), leaving just Syracuse, Mississippi State and Florida State in the running for one of the top 300 players in the country. Florida State would be the favorite if not for what's perceived to be a full class, leaving this decision largely between SU and MSU.

Exciting times for the Orange heading into the weekend. Just a few spots left to fill as we are VERY close to National Signing Day (February 3) now.

Some Reese highlights too, for those curious:
