The Syracuse Orange and Virginia Cavaliers will eventually get to take each other on this Sunday after the game was postponed from Saturday. Apparently they don't know what to do with snow down there.
Whenever they do play, we'll learn a lot about this Orange squad. Riding high on a three-game winning streak and coming off an upset victory over Duke at Cameron, the team needs to prove it wasn't a fluke. Can they keep the momentum going? Let's see what everyone thinks...
Kenny Lacy
Syracuse 67 - Virginia 61
Syracuse is riding high after upsetting Duke at Cameron Indoor and the team looks to be clicking. Tyler Roberson is gabbing all the boards, Michael Gbinije is running the offense well, Trevor Cooney is hitting his shots when needed and Malachi Richardson is scoring when given the opportunity. If these things keep happening I see no reason why the Orange can't pull off another upset on the road.
James Szuba
Virginia 64 - Syracuse 58
This game won't be aesthetically pleasing for those who enjoy a plethora of scoring. Virginia isn't as great defensively as last year but is still a top 10 team in that regard this season. Syracuse's defense has improved drastically since Boeheim's return so expect to see a defensive battle. UVA is led by one of the best guards in the ACC in Malcolm Brogdon and Anthony Gill down low. London Perrantes has evolved from a table setter and is one of the most underrated players in the ACC; he shoots 55.6 percent from distance and doesn't turn the ball over. I think Syracuse will play well but I expect Virginia to win at home in a low scoring affair. We can all blame Sean since this will be his first full game watching since Syracuse's last loss.
Andrew Carey
Syracuse 61 - Virginia 58
The Orange are starting to play some of their best basketball of the season at the right time. They need to continue the their hot shooting and keep the effort up on the offensive glass. The Syracuse defense will need to key in on Malcolm Brogden and Anthony Gill, both players have been around the Virginia program for a long time and are extremely skilled on offense. Roberson and Lydon continue their hustle and effort on the offensive rebounds and Cooney and the guards will keep up their hot shooting, giving the Orange another huge road win.
Kevin Wall
Virginia 63 - Syracuse 61
This game looks like it will be similar to the Duke game, in that both teams are going to have to work hard to score. Syracuse will need to limit turnovers in order to keep the efficient Virginia offense from getting extra possessions. A good shooting performance can get a 3rd consecutive road win for the Orange, but it isn't going to be an easy task.
Michael Burke
Virginia 65 - Syracuse 62
This version of Virginia is actually really pretty efficient offensively, but they still like to play at a slow place, so I expect this to be another grind-it-out game. And I just can't see the Orange winning this game that way. Look for the Hoos, who haven't lost at home this season, to narrowly pull this one out.
Sean Keeley
Virginia 67 - Syracuse 63
I know I really should be pulling for SU to win because otherwise it becomes clear I'm a jinx. But the truth is while I think the Orange will hang tough and prove they belong in the discussion, this might be one tough road game too many. I think they'll be able to leave with their heads held high but Virginia's ability to control the game will be enough, especially if SU isn't able to shoot well.
Your turn...
