The U.S. Women's National Lacrosse team announced it's final 24-player roster, which includes five Syracuse players. Kayla Treanor (Attack, 2016), Alyssa Murray (Attack, 2014), Michelle Tumolo (Attack, 2013), Becca Block (Defense, 2013) and Liz Hogan (Goalie, 2011) have been named to the team. Former Orange midfielder, Katie Webster (2014), was the only Syracuse player up for a spot that didn't make the roster.
In June, Team USA announced its 36-player training roster. This weekend the team had its final three practices and two scrimmages against Florida and Syracuse in Bradenton, Fla. before making cuts.
"While this selection was extremely difficult, we are very excited about the 24 players selected to represent their country this summer," said Team USA head coach Ricky Fried (Georgetown) in the release.
Treanor is the only Syracuse member on the roster with past national team experience. She was a member of the World Champion 2011 U.S. Women's National Under-19 Team.
The national team will be traveling to Surrey Sports Park in Guildford, U.K. from June 28 to July 4 and is expected to play games against England, Scotland and Wales. Surrey Sports Park is also the location for the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse Women's World Cup, which this roster will be training to compete in.
The U.S. Women's National Team will be seeking their third consecutive and eighth overall world title.
