The last time we checked out the Syracuse Orange's standing in the Learfield Sports Director's Cup, the program found itself atop the mountain that is major collegiate athletics.
Now that the fall season is complete, the Orange finish at second overall, their highest finish of the season ever. The biggest points came from the two national championships won by Field Hockey and Cross Country. Add in the College Cup appearance by Men's Soccer and the Women's Cross Country team's strong NCAA showing and the Orange did rack up big points.
"We are proud of our student-athletes and coaches and their accomplishments," said Director of Athletics Mark Coyle. "Winning two National Championships in a span of 24 hours was remarkable and to have our men's soccer team and women's cross country programs excel at that level was terrific. We appreciate their hard work and dedication, and their commitment to representing Syracuse in all that they do."
