The role of recruiting director was a key one the Syracuse Orange had to fill prior to National Signing Day. Well, consider it (reportedly) done.
Syracuse.com's Nate Mink noted the Twitter profile switch by (now former) Wake Forest director of high school relations Asil Mulbah. Beginning on January 6, Mulbah began retweeting items related to the current Syracuse staff. His profile is now decked out with Orange branding.
Mulbah is the latest connection to Bowling Green added to the Syracuse staff. He was there for three seasons under current Wake head coach Dave Clawson, serving as director of player personnel in his final year (2013) before following along to BGSU. Prior to Wake, Mulbah was a scouting assistant for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2010. He graduated from Fordham in 2010 and played two years with the Rams before suffering a career-ending injury there. Mulbah will replace Eric White as the recruiting director at SU. White is headed to Maryland with former Orange coach Scott Shafer.

So this move (if we assume it's confirmed) checks a bunch of boxes, no? NFL experience (even if for just a year). New York links from his time at Fordham. He's been at a couple programs, but technically comes from outside the direct Dino Babers tree. And we're getting him from another Power 5 program. All positives, in my book. And Syracuse makes the move just in time too, as the recruiting quiet period is about to wrap up. Syracuse and Wake have found themselves battling for similar recruits over the last couple years, so this could yield some benefits for the Orange prior to Signing Day as well.
