Name: Juwan Dowels
Position: Cornerback
Year: (Redshirt) Freshman
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 179
Hometown: Sunrise, Fla.
High School: American Heritage
2014 Stats: Juwan redshirted, so no stats.
2015 Projections: Dowels could see playing time by way of thin depth at corner alone. He's currently slotted behind Wayne Morgan and maybe/probably Corey Winfield too. But we'll want him to see the field a bit in order to get more experience under his belt.
How'd He Get Here?: He decided the challenge associated with playing for the Orange was more appealing than that of playing for Clemson, Texas A&M, Oklahoma or others.
Recruiting Sites: Three stars, all around!
Money Quote: From his high school coach, Mike Rumph:
"Juwan is very aware that he's not the biggest guy, and one of his best attributes is understanding what kind of player he is. A lot of times he didn't want to do interviews and didn't want to do things because he knew the first thing they would notice is his size."
Links Of Wonder: Brent Axe recently detailed Dowels and the entire secondary in his "15 for '15" series.
Twitterfeed: Protected, but it's @that_boywan15.
Tweets of Wonder: Though Dowels didn't play in the Notre Dame game last year, he did dress. He also wasn't the only American Heritage alum in attendance.

What Does Shafer Think Of Him: He issues a cautionary word before you go and write Julian Whigham's name in pen at the top of that cornerback depth chart...
"To be honest with you, I love Julian, great family, love his family, but he’s going to have to keep working his tail off. There’s (Juwan) Dowels and (Cordell) Hudson, we got great competition. There’s no guarantee who’s going to be the starter at corner right now."
Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Our own Dan Lyons points out that Juwan's high school, American Heritage, actually favors SU a bit:
American Heritage is the school that produced Juwan Dowels, Tyler Provo, Ri'Shard Anderson. SU-friendly place.
