Get To Know Your Orange Man - #56, DE Kenny Carter

The Plainfield freshman looks to make an impact at Syracuse as a "big body athlete."

Name: Kenny Carter

Position: Defensive End

Year: Freshman

Height: 6'4"

Weight: 257

Hometown: Plainfield, NJ

High School: Plainfield High School

2014 StatsCarter recorded 47 tackles, including 21 for loss, six sacks and four forced fumbles in his combined junior and senior seasons.

2015 Projections: You would assume Carter is a prime candidate to redshirt but he's still No. 3 on the depth chart at one of the defensive end spots behind Ron Thompson and Amir Ealey. With Thompson and John Raymon hurt, Syracuse might not be in any position to sideline a capable lineman.

How'd He Get HereThe NJ lineman also had an offer from the Temple Owls but after a visit to Syracuse, that was that.

Money Quote: "They said I could play on the defensive line or the offensive line and maybe even tight end,'' said Carter. "I am just excited to be going to Syracuse. They were the first school that came to the end of the football season my junior year and they kept showing interest in. They made me feel like family and that means a lot to me.''

Tweets Of Wonder:

What Does Shafer Acosta Think Of Him: "We recruited him as a big body athlete that could either play defensive tackle, defensive end, o-line. So he offers a lot to our program."

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Carter's enrollment was dependent on some other recruits not choosing SU first, so remember that as you watch Kenny develop. Sometimes things have a funny way of working out.
