The Syracuse Orange women's basketball team won its final game in the Czech Republic to close out its foreign tour at 4-1. The team got off to an auspicious start by winning its first two games in Vienna and Slovakia, but eventually lost one to a talented squad in Prague.
Yesterday the women were able to take care of business by surging past Lokomotiva 97-56. Junior center Briana Day had a day in the paint by scoring 25 points to lead the team in scoring. Jade Phillips dropped in 16 of her own on four three-pointers while Cornelia Fondren scored 11. The women played a good defensive game, utilizing the press once again.
"It looks like we got back into rhythm, into our press, and got them covered inside and out," Vonn Read told Cuse.com. "We did a pretty good job defensively."
The team wrapped things up in Europe and will now work towards the beginning of the basketball season. See Read's post game interview below.
