In one of the biggest no-brainers possible, the Syracuse Orange and St. John's Red Storm have renewed their basketball series once again with a home-and-home that kicks off December 13, 2015 and continues in 2016.
Former BIG EAST Conference partners Syracuse and St. John’s will renew their long-time rivalry when the Red Storm hosts the Orange in Madison Square Garden on Sunday, Dec. 13. The two program’s signed a home-and-home series agreement which has St. John’s coming to the Carrier Dome in 2016-17.
Syracuse has a 51-38 advantage in the all-time series which dates to the 1911-12 campaign. St. John’s won the most recent matchup, 69-57, on Dec. 6, 2014 in the Dome. The Orange had won the previous nine meetings.
Given how Syracuse always wants to have inroads to MSG and New York City, we might as well just sign a ten-year deal for this series and stop messing around. Plus it just makes sense in terms of rivalry and history.
SU will see Chris Mullin on the sidelines for the first time as the Johnnies legend is now their head coach. They're also coming off a season in which they went 21-12 and qualified for the NCAA Tournament, losing in the first round to San Diego State.
Syracuse also confirmed the previously-noted game against St. Bonaventure scheduled for November 17. There were also a couple ACC dates floated out there in an SU press release but they were later corrected to be "tentative" so we'll hold off. Here's an updated look at the schedule as we know it.
