It's been fairly calm on the Syracuse Orange football recruiting front, but a couple items of note today as SU continues to fill out the next two classes.
WR Donald Stewart ('16) Planning Visit to Syracuse
Over on Syracuse.com today, Stephen Bailey tells us that the Orange are very much in the mix for 2016 wide receiver Donald Stewart, out of Paramus, N.J. The three-star talent has narrowed things down to five schools, and he's looking to finish up scheduling visits with all of them very soon:
"I'm taking official visits to Stanford and Michigan, and I'm trying to set up a couple more official visits. I'm trying to go to Syracuse, and I'm trying to go to Wake Forest and Boston College as well. Those are my favorite schools."
At 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds, he's a long target and one that Syracuse could really use as it continues pursuing playmakers at wide receiver. The team has been actively going after wideout Juwan Burgess for 2017, and already has a commitment from Daewood Davis in that class as well. Currently, Sadiq Palmer is the only receiver committed for 2016. As Bailey points out at Syracuse.com, the Orange were thought to be done with the position for the next cycle, but freeing up a couple spots has potentially renewed interest in bring on another receiver.

OL Cody Bowes ('17) Has Syracuse at the Top of His List
Scout shares that three-star St. Thomas Aquinas product Cody Bowes is very high on the Orange right now, as the big (6-foot-5, 280 pounds) continues to get offers from top schools. From his chat with Corey Bender:
"Syracuse is my top right now. I can tell it's a family program, and the fans show me a lot of love. They are also top for education."
There's that family angle again, which has worked really well for Scott Shafer's staff of late.
Bowes has previously mentioned Florida and Miami as dream schools, so we'll see if SU's top status holds for him. But for now, it's great to see the Orange getting back down to Fort Lauderdale. Cody also has offers from Wake Forest, Marshall, Tulane, Temple and Appalachian State right now. Keep in mind he's only a rising junior and could still grow a LOT between now and his freshman year of college.
