Syracuse Football: New Arrivals Get Numbers, Marquise Blair Still Waiting on Clearance

A bunch of new Syracuse football players get their new jersey numbers. Meanwhile, we're still waiting on a couple more guys to qualify.

A couple updates on Monday regarding incoming (and potential incoming) Syracuse Orange football players.

We begin with the reveal of numbers for the newbies.

Punter/kicker Sterling Hofrichter is wearing the same number Olindo Mare wore. Good sign, right?

The number that stands out the most is No. 99 for Jake Pickard. It stands out so much that one of the former Syracuse 99's, New England Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones, noticed and wished the freshman luck.

One name not on the list is Marquise Blair. The only four-star prospect in Syracuse's 2015 class, Blair has been working feverishly to qualify academically. As Stephen Bailey notes, he's still waiting on approval from the NCAA. Bailey also notes that JUCO linebacker Ted Taylor and offensive lineman Evan Adams are not listed in the online student directory either. Taylor is waiting on academic approval while Adams says he is fully accepted and shouldn't be missing.
