TBT Great Eight: Boeheim's Army Falls to City Of Gods

Boeheim's Army fought hard in a back-and-forth affair but ultimately fell to City Of Gods, 80-76.

Boeheim's Army failed to advance to New York as they fell to City Of Gods during the Great Eight of The Basketball Tournament. The team fought hard, but ultimately fell short of reaching their goal of winning one million dollars.

The first half was back and forth with Boeheim's Army leading as much as six points. The team was able to take a one point lead into the half with Willie Deane and Rick Jackson both playing well. Terrence Roberts continued his inspiring play off the bench with two jumpers and a dunk over Hamady Ndiaye.

The second half was close throughout and the two teams traded baskets with City Of Gods ultimately winning out, 80-76. Down by 3, Nichols had a great look at a triple to tie the game with over 10 seconds left but failed to connect. The ball was tipped out of bounds with 9.6 seconds left in the game. Lawrence Moten drew up a play and ultimately the ball went to Nichols again who failed to make a three. Boeheim's Army was forced to foul, leaving 2 seconds in the game.

City Of Gods made the first free throw, eliminating any chance for Boeheim's Army to come back. The team showed great heart and a lot of passion. Needless to say, Boeheim's Army should be back again next year with hopes to win the million dollar prize. Kueth Duany had this to say following the game:
