Name: Shyheim Cullen
Position: Linebacker
Year: Freshman
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 209
Hometown: Lowell, MA
High School: Lowell HS
2014 Stats: The 2013 Merrimack Valley Conference Division I Player of the Year rushed for 1,400 yards and scored 20 touchdowns during his high school career. Defensively, he garnered 15.5 sacks and 170 tackles.
2015 Projections: Cullen is currently listed No. 3 at the weakside linebacker spot, behind Marqez Hodge and Alryk Perry. We wouldn't be surprised if Cullen leaped Perry for the second spot and then worked his way into the LB rotation. You can also expect to see him get some time on special teams.
How'd He Get Here: Syracuse was his first and only offer before he accepted followed an on-campus visit, but he also received interest from Miami, UConn, Boston College, UMass, Temple and Rutgers. He cited Syracuse's interest in him immediately compared to wanting to see how his senior year went as a key. Also, Coach Bullough and Coach Lea did a great job recruiting.
What'd Recruiting Sites Say: Scout (3), Rivals (2), ESPN (3), 24/7 (3)
Money Quote: "As soon as I got to the school, meeting the coaching staff and meeting everybody, and seeing the school itself, that just drew me in instantly and I knew I wanted to commit," Cullen said. "It was the perfect school for me."
