Former Syracuse center Rakeem Christmas was traded Thursday from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Indiana Pacersthe Pacers announced.

Christmas signed a four-year, $4.5 million deal with Indiana, according to cleveland.com's Chris Haynes. The first two years will be guaranteed.

Earlier this month, the Pacers traded center Roy Hibbert to the Los Angeles Lakers and parted ways with power forward David West, who signed with the San Antonio Spurs in free agency. Those moves left Indiana with a thin frontcourt, and signing Christmas to a guaranteed deal could indicate that the Pacers expect the SU grad to step in and contribute immediately.

Christmas was drafted 36th overall by Cleveland in last month's NBA Draft and averaged 8.0 points and 4.5 rebounds for the Cavaliers in the NBA's Las Vegas Summer League. As a senior with the Orange in 2014-15, he averaged 17.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.
