Put on your Boeheim's Army jersey and socks, it's time to get this thing going.
Boeheim's Army, the team made up largely of former Syracuse Orange basketball players, begins it's quest tonight to win a grand prize of $1 million by winning The Basketball Tournament. Based largely on fan votes, BA enters TBT as the No. 1 overall seed and will take on NYCSuperstars at 7:30 p.m. at Philadelphia University's Gallagher Athletic Center.
The game will be broadcast live at the TBT website.
NYCSuperstars features a lineup of mostly Boston University and Queens College alums, including John Holland, Lance Hazel, Jr., D.J. Irving and Dominic Morris. They were scheduled to play Team Oohway, stocked with St. John's and Seton Hall talent, in the first round but thanks to a forfeit they advanced to play Boeheim's Army without ever taking the court.
Boeheim's Army features former Syracuse stars Eric Devendorf, Hakim Warrick, Donte Greene, Rick Jackson, Mookie Jones, Baye Keita, Lawrence Moten, Terrence Roberts and Demetris Nichols. Boston College/Purdue player Willie Deane and Arkansas's Olu Famutimi round out the roster. Moten is the also the coach and the team GM is former SU manager Kevin Belbey.
Hopefully, Devo has centered the team's chakras and they're ready to go. Should they win, they will advance to play at 4:15 p.m. on Sunday against the winner of 20th & Olney (featuring LaSalle alums) vs. Max's All-Stars (Hofstra alums).
