As we head into the weekend, and wrap up the current recruiting quiet periods, Syracuse Orange football has a few updates to share -- most of which are positive, I swear.
3-Star DE Jamal Holloway Releases Top 10, Sets Date for Syracuse Visit
Last we heard from the highly-rated New Jersey defensive end, he was planning his second visit to the Hill. And on Wednesday, that date was confirmed along with Holloway's top 10. According to Scout's Mike McAllister, his Syracuse visit is on July 16, and his top five list should be out soon as well. That top 10, for those curious:

It's an interesting list that includes a diverse cross-section of schools from those currently at the top of the heap in college football (Michigan State, Arizona State), the middle (almost everyone else) and non-power schools (Old Dominion, Temple) too. Based on the revisit, you'd have to think SU is at least sort of in the mix. We'll see what he shares post-visit next week.
3-Star CB Cycoby Burch Planning a Visit to SU
We've been through Syracuse's issues in the secondary, but recent recruiting trends are obviously aimed at addressing them. The most recent name in that quest is Burch, a 3-star from Orlando who recently decommited from Wisconsin. Some of the other interested parties include West Virginia, UCF, USF and North Carolina (among others). And according to the Daily Orange's Paul Schwedelson, it seems he's planning to visit the Orange soon:

Syracuse Offers 2017 4-Star ILB Avery Roberts
One of the latest Orange offers is 4-star Delaware (Concord High School) inside linebacker Avery Roberts. The talented, 6-foot-2, 215-pound, rising high school junior shows some great speed in the middle and only stands to gain more of that quickness and strength over time. He's currently viewed as a top-100 national recruit by Scout, and has a host of offers ranging from Syracuse, Boston College and Wake Forest, to Miami, Nebraska, Penn State and Stanford (plus more power league offers too). He told Scout's Mike McAllister he'll look to visit SU soon.
Orange Offer 4-Star Tampa, Fla. Wide Receiver Juwan Burgess for 2017
Syracuse made an early move to gain another member of the Tampa's Plant High School's football team. Juwan Burgess, teammate of 2016 Orange commits Scoop Bradshaw and Rex Culpepper, picked up an offer from SU this week. The 4-star wideout is definitely interested, and spoke to McAllister about a possible fall visit to campus. You'd have to think there's at least some appeal for him potentially playing with his current QB and that has to be an exciting prospect for the Orange as well. Burgess has a boatload of offers from all of the big names already: Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State, UCLA... the list goes on. It won't be easy, but it's something to watch out for.

In other news, Stephen Bailey provides some updates on 2015/16 commit Brandon Ginnetti, as well as one-time target (and friend of Robert Washington) Jared Mayden, both of which are included below:
Syracuse DE commit Brandon Ginnetti (@Gknotts34) said he got the final X-ray on his foot and was cleared by doctors. Expects to sign in Aug

4-star CB Jared Mayden commits to Oregon. Was always a long shot for Syracuse, but worth noting as one of Robert Washington's friends.

That first note is very welcome news for those continuing to be concerned about the Orange D-line, which is in some dire straits right now. The second, as Bailey notes, was always a pipedream, but still something SU fans had their collective eyes on. Oh well... focus on those positive things instead!
