Darius Gibbs: "Everyone Knows Syracuse is a Step Under the Ivy League Schools"

TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS, DARIUS.

Late last week, Georgia ATH Darius Gibbs committed to Syracuse, showing once again that #Softnosed-gate really had no effect on our ability to recruit the Peach State. This week, the projected H-back spoke with Syracuse.com's Stephen Bailey to share his thought process in picking the Orange.

There's some good info in there -- Gibbs and tight ends coach Jake Moreland have already discussed pass-blocking, Gibbs won't be taking any more visits this summer and he wants to major in criminal justice, among other notes. But all of them barely register in comparison to this fantastic quote:

"Everyone knows Syracuse is a step under the Ivy League schools so it'll really help me after football. You can't play football forever."

ENHANCE!

"Everyone knows Syracuse is a step under the Ivy League schools so it'll really help me after football."

ENHANCE!

"Everyone knows Syracuse is a step under the Ivy League schools..."

So there you have it. Syracuse is a step under Ivy League schools. I don't need to tell you that because you already know it. You are everyone, correct?

I don't know how large that "step" under is, or how long of a drop it is from the Ivy League schools to Syracuse and the rest of its "step under" ilk, but I don't care. Syracuse University is a step under Ivy League schools -- and by that, we could very well mean "every other non-Ivy school" since the others have no similar, formal classification. But in any case, to keep with the new #BRAND Mark Coyle seems to support...

Syracuse: Central New York's Almost-Ivy League Team.

Take that, Cornell.
