Syracuse Football: 2016 Rochester OLB Taylor Riggins Verbals to Orange

Rochester Forever, Forty-Four.

Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

Aquinas Institute (Rochester) OLB Taylor Riggins made his second visit to Syracuse University this week and apparently that sealed the deal. The 6-foot-2, 213-pounder verbally-committed today to play for the Syracuse Orange football team in 2016.

The ninth pledge of the 2016 class is unrated by all of the major recruiting sites and doesn't seem to have had any other offers. He's the first Western NY commit since 2013 and the second linebacker commitment following Will Harper, who is expected to be used as nickel specialist.

Riggins had 35 tackles, five TFLs, nine pass deflections and 2.5 sacks last season and also garnered 359 all-purpose yards as a running back.

Scout says he projects as a downhill runner who can be physical but needs to work on "getting to the edge."

More than anything, it's just exciting to have a Riggins on the roster. So many FNL references to come...
