Name: Sean Avant
Position: Wide Receiver
Year: Sophomore
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 201
Hometown: Miramar, Fla.
High School: Miramar
2014 Stats: As a redshirt freshman, Avant spent some time sidelined with an upper-body injury. He ultimately appeared in seven games but caught only three passes for a total of 21 yards.
2015 Projections: Avant was listed as the backup to Steve Ishmael on the post-spring depth chart. A number of Syracuse's leading receivers from 2014 are returning, but Avant caught four passes in the spring game and could emerge as one of quarterback Terrel Hunt's top targets in 2015.
How'd He Get Here? Originally committed to Florida International, Avant flipped to Syracuse after FIU fired head coach Mario Cristobal.
What'd Recruiting Sites Say? Rivals, Scout, and 247 each gave him three-star ratings.
Money Quote: "He's always caught the ball really well," head coach Scott Shafer told syracuse.com last August. "He's not a speed demon, but he's fast enough. He finds windows and sits in them and catches the ball extremely well off his body."
Link of Wonder: Shafer began recruiting Avant while Doug Marrone was still head coach at SU and Shafer was the team's defensive coordinator. And had Marrone never left for the NFL, it's possible Avant would be playing football elsewhere.
Twitterfeed: Avant isn't on Twitter.
Tweet of Wonder:
Still one of the toughest catches I have seen by one of my guys. Y'all stay tune for Sean Avant #Syracuse pic.twitter.com/8lNSuTHJoq

What does Scott Shafer Think of Him? Shafer has always spoken highly of Avant, which makes sense; he was one of Avant's primary recruiters.
Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Avant was offered a spot as a walk-on at Florida Atlantic before he committed to Syracuse.
