Syracuse Lacrosse: Men No. 2, Women No. 4 in NCAA Tournament, Potential #OrangeEagle Showdown

Death. Taxes. Syracuse Orange men's and women's lacrosse seeded well in the NCAA Tournament.

Both Syracuse Orange lacrosse programs know their fates in the 2015 NCAA Tournaments.

First, the men, who earned a No. 2 seed (full bracket here). The Orange must await the winner of the play-in game between the Marist Red Foxes and Bryant Bulldogs. If Bryant in the first-round sounds familiar that's because the the Bulldogs handed Syracuse their worst-ever NCAA Tournament loss last season, a 10-9 opening weekend defeat and made us wonder what was going on with the state of SU lacrosse. You better believe the Orange are hoping for some payback.

If they win, SU will take on the winner of 7-seed Virginia Cavaliers and the Johns Hopkins Bluejays. Either way, we'll hate our second-round opponent with white-hot rage. So that's good.

Meanwhile over on the women's side, SU took an ACC Championship run and turned it into a 4-seed (full bracket here). They too get a first-round bye and they will take on the winner of the first-round matchup between the Albany Great Danes and Penn Quakers on Sunday, May 10 at the SU Soccer Stadium.

Coincidentally, the #OrangeEagle Gods may have put the wheels in motion on an epic ending to this season's rivalry. The Boston College Eagles are the 5-seed and if both they and Syracuse win their opening games, they will play one another. As noted previously, the only way BC can win the coveted Orange Eagle Trophy is if they defeat SU head-to-head, win the National Title and hope that SU men's lacrosse falters before the finish line.

Let the fun begin.
