What Should Syracuse's Next Move Be Regarding No. 44?

Syracuse has been super-weird about No. 44 this week. What should they do now?

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

You know the whole story by now so I won't go into much detail. But here's a quick recap on the week that was:

Tuesday, SU says, in multiple ways, that No. 44 is "back." Shortly thereafter, SU football legend and Board of Trustees member Donovan McNabb voices his displeasure with the announcement. That night, various national media members also speak out against the decision.

Wednesday, SU sends out an email saying that Tuesday announcement wasn't actually saying anything new, reiterating the discussion of a committee and special circumstances first before 44 could come back. We had questions. And we weren't the only ones.

The move appears to have appeased whoever complained about the decision, but when it's all said and done, the fanbase appears to be angrier and/or more confused than when this week started. SU briefly created some goodwill with a large swath of the fanbase and then immediately ruined it, bringing back to memory so many other recent SNAFUs.

So, where does this leave us? Waiting for Syracuse Athletics to do...what, exactly? So far they've done exactly what we expected them to...nothing. They're going radio silent and hoping the whole situation eventually boils over and we all move on to our next aggravation. Clearly they've angered someone, or someones, big enough to make them eat poorly-crafted PR crow.

But what about us? The fans. Those of us who were excited to see the next steps. What happens now?

More specifically, what do you want to see happen? Vote in the poll and share your thoughts in the comments.
