For the second time since 1975, an NFL Draft has come and gone without a single Syracuse player hearing his name called.
Prior to this weekend, expectations were that, at the very least, offensive tackle Sean Hickey and safety Durell Eskridge would be selected in the 2015 NFL Draft. But neither Hickey nor Eskridge was taken, marking the first time since 2008 that no SU player was drafted.
Eskridge and Hickey have since signed with teams as free agents -- Eskridge with the New York Jets and Hickey with the New Orleans Saints. Eric Crume, former SU defensive tackle, signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
After finishing his junior season at SU with 68 tackles, Eskridge opted to forego his senior season and enter the draft.
Hickey started all 38 games in his final three seasons with SU and was a 2013 All-ACC honorable mention. Crume recorded 38 tackles in 2014, nine of which went for losses.
From here, be on the lookout for Dyshawn Davis, Cameron Lynch, and Jarrod West also signing with teams.
UPDATE:
Former Syracuse linebacker Dyshawn Davis has signed with the Washington Redskins, per his Instagram account. That leaves Lynch and West still waiting to be signed.
UPDATE (Again):
It looks like Lynch has also found an NFL home:
Former Syracuse LB Cameron Lynch (@CameronLynch3) says he will sign as a free agent with the St. Louis Rams
