If the Syracuse Orange football recruiting trail was a a fire, it would be burning down the entire East Coast by now as the Orange recruiting staff have been relentless all weekend long, dishing out more offers than anybody can keep track of (sorry about that by the way). Because of the recent overload of offers, here are the offers that have gone out over the past couple days:
2016 OL Keldrick Cesar (Miami, FL)
Keldrick Cesar is a 2016 guard out of Miami Edison High School. The 6-foot-4 295 pound Cesar has a 3-star rating from 247Sports and also holds offers from USF, Temple, and Middle Tennessee State.
2016 TE Sidney Mims (Montgomery, AL)
Sidney Mims is a 2016 TE out of Montgomery Academy in Alabama. Mims is listed at 6-foot-5 245 pounds and runs a 4.8 second 40-yard dash. He currently holds offers from Navy and Pitt to go along with Syracuse but he is a name that will pick up a lot more steam as his season approaches.
2016 DE/LB Shemar Smith (Miami, FL)
Shemar Smith is a 2016 DE/LB out of Miami Jackson High School. The 6-foot-2 210 pound Smith is rated 2-stars by 247Sports and is a former FAU commit. However, he decided to reopen his recruitment on Friday after beginning to receive offers from the likes of Kentucky and Pitt.
2016 QB/WR Desmond Phillips (Miami, FL)
Desmond Phillips is a 2016 ATH out of Miami Jackson High School. He is far better suited at wide receiver at 5-foot-10 170 pounds and while he does not have speed that sticks out, he does have outstanding hands and could fit in as an H-back at Syracuse. His only other Power 5 offer as of now is Pitt.
2017 DB Brian Edwards (Miramar, FL)
Brian Edwards is a 2017 DB out of Miramar High School in Florida. He is listed by 247Sports as 6-foot-3 185 pounds and while he does not currently hold a star rating, he holds many big time offers from the likes of Clemson, USC, and Miami.
2017 S Naytron Culpepper (Hialeah, FL)
Naytron Culpepper is a 2017 safety out of American High School in Florida. According to 247Sports, he stands 6-foot-1 175 pounds and holds a 4-star rating along with offers from the likes of LSU, Kentucky and Louisville. However, he does insist that Syracuse will get as good a look that he would give any other school.
In additional good news, 2016 3-star Missouri running back Tre Bryant announced his "top 7" yesterday -- a list that included Syracuse, along with Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Northwestern and UNLV. According to Scout, he's been a rising name that's performing well in regional Nike events. Bryant is the 10th running back to receive an offer from the Orange, and is likely a contingency plan should Robert Washington fail to end up on campus (since RW was told he'd be the only traditional running back in the class).
