Yesterday, Syracuse.com reported that 2016 5-star guard Kobi Simmons still has the Syracuse Orange on his list of schools, per his high school coach. Syracuse began showing interest in Kobi last month and quickly offered the combo-guard out of Alpharetta (Ga.).

If Simmons were to pick Syracuse, he would be guaranteed significant playing time. Kaleb Joseph, Malachi Richardson and Frank Howard will be the only guards on scholarship for the 2016-17 season. Joseph will be entering his junior season, and Richardson & Howard will be sophomores.

Not many other schools can promise immediate 25-35 minutes per game. But with the reduction in scholarships, that will be Syracuse's recruiting pitch.

Donna Ditota writes that Simmons will cut his list of schools shortly, but expects the Orange to make the list and remain in contention.

Jim Boeheim conducted an in-home visit with Kobi and his family last month, which reportedly went very well.

The 5-star guard holds offers from Kentucky, Arizona, Kansas, Marquette, Syracuse, Texas, Georgia, Ohio State, North Carolina, and many, many more.

Simmons is AAU teammates with 2016 center James Bankswho also holds an offer from the Orange. Both play for the Atlanta Celtics in the Adidas Uprising Gauntlet.
