Syracuse Football Recruiting: Orange Offer Two 2016 JUCO Offensive Linemen

New, 16 comments

The Syracuse offensive line has been a glaring weakness in past season and the Orange sent offers to two who could offer immediate help.

The Syracuse offensive line has been somewhat of a carousel in previous years, and the departures of startling left tackle Sean Hickey and center John Miller this offseason will be followed by the rest of the 2014 offensive line after next season. Obviously all of that turnover won't really help the Orange stabilize anything.

With the Orange recruiting staff on an intense high after landing 4-star running back Robert Washington last Saturday, they've continued that momentum this week too. SU has offered scholarships to TWO four-star lineman in the 2016 JUCO Class: Malcolm Pridgeon of Nassau Community College and Charles Baldwin of ASA Junior College.

Pridgeon, who stands at a monstrous 6-foot-8 285 pounds, is gets his 4-star rating from and also holds offers from the likes of Ohio State, Arizona State, Louisville, Missouri, and Texas Tech. He originally graduated from Central Islip High School on Long Island (N.Y.).

Baldwin, who stands at hulking 6-foot-6 and 305 pounds, is also rated four stars by and holds offers from big schools like Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Ole Miss to go along with Syracuse. He originally graduated from Windsor High School in Connecticut.

Big moves by the Orange, obviously, who are confidently fighting above their weight class. These are obviously far from done deals, but still good to see Syracuse get themselves firmly entrenched in conversations for top linemen. Especially ones with such strong local ties.
