Early Wednesday morning, NunesMagician.com confirmed multiple reports that Syracuse had extended an offer to 2016 center James Banks.
Banks is listed as a top-10 center in the 2016 class, according to 247sports.
James is AAU teammates of 2016 5-star guard target Kobi Simmons. Both run with the Atlanta Celtics. Syracuse conducted an in-home visit with Simmons earlier this week.
Banks averaged 23 points and 11 rebounds per game during his junior season, according to Evan Daniels. He's only been playing organized basketball for three years, which you could never tell based on his skill set.
"I want to go somewhere I'm needed," Banks told Daniels. He continued, "I don't want to go somewhere where I'm going to sit my first couple of years. I want to go somewhere I can get better and develop."
Banks already holds offers from Mississippi State, Tennessee, Clemson, Georgia, Nebraska, Georgia Tech, Memphis, Tulsa, Harvard, South Carolina, USC, George Mason, Georgia Southern, Western Carolina, East Carolina, North Florida and MTSU, according to Daniels.
The Adidas Uprising official website lists Banks at 6-foot-11.
In the first AAU session of the year, Banks struggled. He averaged 2.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. The Atlanta Celtics will be in Indianapolis this weekend participating in the second session of the Adidas Uprising.
