Syracuse Basketball Recruiting: SU Offers 2016 Guard Alterique Gilbert

Syracuse offered 2016 4-star guard Alterique Gilbert on Monday night.

One thing is for certain, Syracuse isn't waiting around for Tyus Battle. For the second time in a week, the Syracuse Orange basketball staff have extended an offer to a 2016 guard.

Late Monday night, Syracuse offered 2016 4-star PG Alterique Gilbert. It was reported by Troy Nunes is an Absolute Magician earlier in the day that Syracuse visited Gilbert, and late Monday night Jim Boeheim offered the 5-foot-10 guard.

Gilbert is undersized for a prototypical Syracuse guard, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't succeed in the system. The Lithonia (Ga.) product has quick hands, a ridiculous handle and can hit the three-ball. His size doesn't affect the way he plays the game. The way he plays on both ends of the court and his ability to force steals would fit ideally in the zone.

Gilbert currently holds offers from: Connecticut, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Miami, Ole Miss, Syracuse, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and USC, according to 247sports.
