With the three major AAU seasons kicking off this past weekend, many Syracuse Orange targets were in action. The targets that were active this weekend include: 2017 guard Trevon Duval, 2017 wing Melo Eggleston, 2017 forward Jordan Tucker, 2016 guard Howard Washington, as well as 2016 commit Matthew Moyer.
Nike EYBL - Hampton, VA
Jordan Tucker, a 6-7/200 4-star forward, is running with the NY Lightning this summer. The Lightning finished 1-3 over the weekend, losing to Houston Hoops, City Rocks, and NJ Playaz. Tucker, playing with the 17U team, averaged 5.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. Jordan shot 31% from 3-point range. He holds offers from many D-1 schools, including Syracuse.
Howard Washington, a 6-3/160 4-star guard, will run with the Albany City Rocks this summer. The City Rocks went 3-1 this past weekend, and Washington was impressive. Howard averaged 13.5 points, 3.8 boards, and 2.2 assists per game this weekend - including back-to-back 20 point games on Saturday. Washington transferred to Montverde this past season, where he won a National Championship. He's a native of Buffalo, NY. Syracuse has been in contact, but cannot offer until Tyus Battle decides his future plans. With the scholarship reduction at Syracuse, it really puts the staff in a tough position. Washington, however, received an offer from Xavier over the weekend.
Adidas Uprising - Dallas, TX
Matthew Moyer, a 6-8/210 5-star forward, is playing with the Indiana Elite this summer. Moyer, the lone 2016 commit, continued to impress this weekend. As a team, Indiana Elite went 1-3 this weekend, but that didn't stop Moyer. Matthew averaged 12.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1 assist per game. He had a weekend-high 16 points on Saturday, and reordered a double-double on Sunday with 15 points and 11 rebounds. He shot 44% from the floor, and 63% from the free-throw line. Moyer reiterated his commitment to the Orange last week, telling me he "isn't going anywhere."
UA Association - New Orleans
Trevon Duval, 6-3/175 5-star guard, is playing with WE R1 in the Under Armour Association. WE R1 went 3-1 this weekend. Duval, the top 2017 target for the Orange, averaged 17.8 points, 3.8 boards, and 3.2 assists per game. He also had 2.5 steals per game, which would be a nice asset atop the zone. Trevon had 25 points on Sunday in a win over 1 Nation, and scored 24 points on Saturday against Mo Williams Academy. Duval can be an elite scorer when he wants, but is also a natural at dishing it. There's a reason he's a top 3 guard for 2017. Syracuse was in New Orleans on Saturday watching Duval, sources have confirmed.
Melo Eggleston, a 6-8/180 4-star wing, is playing with the 16U DC Premier this summer. The Premier went 2-2 this weekend. Eggleston averaged 10.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Melo scored 5 points and added 10 rebounds today vs. South Jersey Jazz. On Saturday, he had 12 points and 8 boards against Canada Elite. Coach McNamara has remained in contact with Eggleston throughout the NCAA sanctions and transfers, however, Syracuse has not offered the 6-8 forward yet. Melo told me in the fall that Syracuse is his "dream school," and still holds high interest in the Orange.
