Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim plans to appeal the his nine game suspension that is set to begin at the start of conference play next season, ESPN's Andy Katz reported today on "Outside the Lines."
Boeheim was suspended earlier today for the first half of SU's 2015-16 ACC slate. His suspension was one of several punishments given to SU following the NCAA's eight-year investigation into the Syracuse athletic department.
If Boeheim's appeal fails, it has been speculated that Mike Hopkins, believed by some to be the Orange's head-coach-in-waiitng, will take over as head coach for those nine games. Hopkins has coached on Boeheim's staff for 19 seasons.
