Syracuse Orange big man Rakeem Christmas cleaned up in the yearly ACC Basketball Awards. Now he's compiling national award as well.
Christmas was named a second-team All-American by USA Today on Wednesday. The senior was joined by Utah’s Delon Wright, Kentucky’s Karl-Anthony Towns, Virginia’s Malcolm Brogdon and Wichita State’s Ron Baker. Duke's Jahlil Okafor and Notre Dame's Jerian Grant were both named to the first-team.
Christmas had previously also been named a third-team All-American by The Sporting News, which is still a thing that exists.
As those awards keep rolling in, Christmas is also one of five finalists for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award as well as one of 15 finalists for the John Wooden Award and one of 14 finalists for the Oscar Robertson Award.
Christmas led the Orange this season with 17.5 PPG and 9.1 RPG and finishes his college career with 247 blocks (2.5 BPG).
