For better or worse, the Syracuse Orange kicking game is always a critical component. There's a reason we hail Riley Dixon as our Heisman hopeful and assign all of our best place-kickers with memorable nicknames. We count on them to come through. Hopefully, Sterling Hofrichter is the next kicker in that line. We were the first to offer him and he stuck by us from there on out. Let's find out who this heir apparent is.

Ben's Breakdown:
Sterling gives the Orange a ton of flexibility over the next 4 years. Not only is he one of the best kickers in the country, but he's also one of the best punters. This means that theoretically the Orange could save a scholarship they would usually give to a specialist by having Hofrichter handle all the duties. Whether we take this approach remains to be seen, but it's a sound strategy.
Hofrichter has a very powerful leg, and should give the Orange an edge in something we've struggled with over the last few years. I don't remember the last time I was so excited to land a special teams player, but we really have something special in Sterling.
