The benefits of Bobby Acosta on staff bore some quick fruit back in April when New York State product Jordan Fredericks chose the Orange very early in the process. Syracuse's offer was "too good to pass up," and that's held firm for 10 months now -- culminating in his signed letter of intent today.

Ben's Breakdown:
Fredericks was the best running back in New York State this year, winning the 2014 Gatorade State Player of the Year award. He ran for over 2,000 yards and 35 TDs this season alone, and regardless of competition, this is incredible. Jordan racked up 98 TDs in his career at Lawrence High School, and comes into Syracuse ready to compete for playing time as a freshman.
Jordan will have that opportunity, as fellow freshman RB Tyrone Perkins is coming off major knee surgery, and the Orange only have 3 other running backs - George Morris II, Devante McFarlane, and Dontae Strickland. If Jordan comes into camp and impresses, he could see some carries sooner rather than later. It's always important to land the best player in your state, and the Orange have done so this year.
