Syracuse Track: 1st and 2nd Sub-Four Minute Miles in SU History

New, 10 comments

For the 1st time ever, a Syracuse track athlete has run faster than 4 minutes for the mile, and it only took 3 tenths of a second for a 2nd runner to also break the mark.

The Syracuse Orange welcomed its 1st members of the Sub 4 Minute Mile club on Saturday afternoon at Penn State. Freshmen Justyn Knight ran 3:59.51 in his mile debut while Senior Martin Hehir was right behind in 3:59.81. Since Knight is redshirting this indoor season, I believe he will have to settle for a new Canadian Jr. Record in the event while Hehir will lay claim to the Syracuse school record.

Congratulations to both runners for breaking this barrier.
