The new Cascade/Maverik Media Poll came out on Monday. I thought the poll was pretty fair, but see for yourself:

The Denver Pioneers continue to hold on tight to the number one spot in the nation, but the ACC now owns spots 2-6, pretty impressive. Syracuse's next opponent, the Army Black Knights, vaulted up five positions to land at #15 after putting together three straight wins to start the season. The Marquette Golden Eagles has been another surprise program this year and will enter the poll this week at #17 after beating #16 Lehigh Mountain Hawks and #19 Hofstra Pride. The Towson Tigers land at #16 following a big win over the #6 Johns Hopkins Blue Jays last week but will have another tough test against the #8 Loyola Greyhounds.
While the Syracuse Orange have moved up to #3, there's a more than legitimate argument for SU to be the #2 team in the country. Denver will host Notre Dame on March 7, so if the Orange can remain perfect, that could be the entry point for the ‘Cuse into the top two positions.

#7 Maryland @ #14 Yale
Sunday
#15 Army @ #3 Syracuse
The other big news on Monday, a pair of Syracuse players were given weekly honors by the ACC. Dylan Donahue took home the ACC Offensive Player of the Week and Sean Young won the ACC Defensive Player of the Week. The Syracuse defense played about as well as it could have on Sunday led by Young and Brandon Mullins. Young took on the duty of guarding 2014 Honorable Mention All-American Dan Lintner and held him pointless. It was just the first time in Lintner's last 16 games he failed to register a goal. Donahue buried his 100th point against the Cornell Big Red. The junior put away 2 goals on three shots and added three assists to his final totals on Sunday.
