As the regular season heads into the final weekend, Syracuse secured an important home win over Lindenwood University on Saturday. With the victory, SU tied Penn State for second place and clinched at least home-ice advantage for one round of the CHA playoffs. Heading into this weekend's games with RIT, the Orange have two possibilitieswhere they would finish second and earn a first round bye in the CHA Tournament.
During Friday night's 4-4 tie, Junior Melissa Piacentini broke the SU record for career goals scored. Piacentini's 42nd goal broke the mark held by Margot Scharfe, and with another year remaining, Piacentini has a chance to reach the 60-goal plateau. She also moved to within two goals of Isabel Menard's single-season record of 19. Also, of note is that Piacentini's 10 power play goals have already broken the Syracuse season record, and have put her just two behind that SU career mark.
Syracuse plays one final home game against RIT this Friday night at 7 p.m. at Tennity, but last weekend marked the official Senior Day activities. The below video shows the presentation of the graduating Syracuse players.
