Syracuse Orange (6-2) vs. Colgate Raiders (2-5) Predictions, Poll and Gamethread

Syracuse hosts in-state foe Colgate tonight.

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Fresh off of losses last week to Wisconsin and Georgetown, Syracuse will play host tonight to in-state foe Colgate tonight. The Orange have won 49 straight games against the Raiders, with Colgate last winning during the 1961-62 season.

Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. Check out our predictions below, vote in our poll and leave your pre-, in- and post-game thoughts in the comments. Then stick around for more coverage following the game.

Syracuse 84, Colgate 69

The Syracuse we knew and loved from before last week returns, even if its for one night only. This game comes along when we need it most. It gives Mike Hopkins a chance to settle in without the pressure of coaching against Duke or Georgetown. It allows the players to take a breath and re-establish the things that were working. And hopefully we'll see more shots fall and do so consistently.

Andrew Carey

Syracuse 70, Colgate 52

Colgate just isn't ready for the 2-3 zone and will have problems scoring the ball all night long. If they want any shot of pulling off the upset they will need a monster game from senior guard, Austin Tillotson. The Red Raiders only have 1 player over the height of 6-foot 8, so battling down low will be a problem for Colgate. I expect the Orange to win this one easily as Coach Hop gets to empty the bench a little bit.

Michael Burke

Syracuse 80, Colgate 58

Colgate is not good at basketball this season, having already lost games badly to both Binghamton and Fordham. The Orange get back on track by making 3s and actually winning the rebounding battle. Don't expect this one to stay close for long.

Now, your turn!
