Seven days ago, we were riding high as the Syracuse Orange vaulted up the polls following big wins in the Battle 4 Atlantis. This week? Not so much.
In this week's AP and Coaches polls, the Orange fell completely out of the top 25. Those two straight losses -- to Wisconsin and Georgetown, respectively -- were the culprit as SU struggled mightily against both unranked squads.
Over in the Coaches Poll, Syracuse is at 26th -- just 11 votes outside of the 25th spot, inhabited by Texas A&M. The Aggies, as you'll remember, have lost to the Orange this season, and both teams have two-loss records right now. In the AP, Syracuse was 27th with 78 votes. That's 31 votes outside of the 25th spot (and just four back of Connecticut, who had 82 at the 26th spot).
So the bad is that Syracuse is unranked now. The good? Two wins this week and a loss or two above them, and they're right back in the top 25.

Other teams of note, for those that like to get a read on where Syracuse's past and future opponents are: There are five ranked ACC teams this week (and obviously SU faces all of them at least once). North Carolina leads the way at 3rd in the AP/3rd in the Coaches, followed by Duke (8th/5th), Virginia (10th/10th), Louisvi lle (22nd/19th) and Miami (17th/20th), respectively. UConn is not ranked in either poll, but was among the top unranked vote-getters. As mentioned, Texas A&M was 25th in the Coaches Poll, but behind Syracuse in the AP.
