Syracuse's Michael Gbinije, Tyler Lydon and Malachi Richardson each appear on early season award watch lists, which were announced Wednesday.

Gbinije, who is leading Syracuse in a number of statistical categories, is among 50 players on the Naismith Player of the Year award watch list. He's also among 33 players on the U.S. Basketball Writers Association's watch list for the Oscar Robertson Trophy, which is also awarded to the top player in college basketball.

Five other players from the ACC made both player of the year watch lists — Duke's Grayson Allen, Virginia's Malcolm Brogdon, Notre Dame's Demetrius Jackson, Miami's Sheldon McClellan and North Carolina's Marcus Paige.

Lydon and Richardson, meanwhile, each made the watch list for the USBWA's Wayman Tisdale Award, given to the top freshman. Three other teams — California, Florida State and Kentucky — have at least a pair of players on the watch list. In Kentucky's case, three players — Isaiah Briscoe, Skal Labissiere and Jamal Murray — made the list.

Currently, Lydon is averaging 10.4 points and 8.0 rebounds per game for Syracuse while hitting 50% of his 3s. Richardson ranks third on the Orange with 13.0 points per game.
