Evan Foster is a 6'1" 190 lbs. safety from West Bloomfield High School in Michigan. He originally committed to Bowling Green back on June 29th but re-opened his recruiting after the coaching change. Foster also has offers from Purdue, Eastern Michigan and Army.
Foster announced this morning via Twitter that he had received an offer from the Syracuse Orange. Foster fits what Syracuse wants to do defensively in the Tampa-2 in that he is a bigger defensive back who cover the deep third but can also tackle well. He has scheduled a visit to the Hill in January.
Foster has not been rated by any recruiting service. Some within the fan base have expressed frustration with Syracuse targeting players who might not be as highly rated as some other recruits. However, this is Coach Babers's third head coaching job and he has been successful everywhere he has been by targeting players who fit his system and has earned the benefit of the doubt. Also of note, not all players have received grades yet from recruiting services, as we saw with the well-regarded Carl Jones.
