Syracuse Field Hockey: Orange Secure Top Seed in 2015 NCAA Tournament

Despite losing on Sunday, the Orange still had a good enough resume to earn the top seed in the tourney. They'll find out who they play on Tuesday.

Despite losing their first game of the season on Sunday, the Syracuse Orange are still No. 1. SU will be the No. 1 seed in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.

Check out the bracket here.

SU gets a first-round bye but J.S. Coyne Stadium will be host to a couple first-round matches in the region. Kent State (11-8) will play UMass (11-8) on Tuesday with the winner facing Syracuse on Saturday at 11:30. Maryland (19-3) and Princeton (10-6) will follow that game at 2 p.m. The winners of those games will meet on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. for a trip to the Final Four in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

ACC Champion (and SU vanquisher) North Carolina is the No. 2 seed followed by No. 3 Virginia and No. 4 UConn (the only undefeated team left). Despite their record and being the defending national champion, the committee was not impressed with the Huskies resume.

Syracuse is looking for not only their second-straight trip to the Final Four but also their second-straight trip to the National Title game, though this year they'd like to make it one step further.
