Orange Basketball Recruiting: Taurean Thompson won't Decide Until the Spring

The Orange's last target in the class of 2016 won't decide where he will be taking his talents to until the spring.

The 6-foot 9 power forward has visited the Orange two times in the fall, and recently canceled his visit to SMU due to the allegations. Thompson transferred to Brewster Academy in New England, the school has produced many former Orange players such as C.J Fair, Ron "Buss" Patterson, and Chris McCullough. Thompson's commitment could make for a pretty solid class with the likes of Matthew Moyer and Tyus Battle already pledging Orange.

Thompson also has offers from the likes of Xavier, Rutgers, SMU, among others. He recently drew some interest from Kansas, but it is believed that the recent commitment of Mitch Lightfoot will no longer make Kansas an option for Thompson.

Without getting into too much detail about the scholarship situation, I believe that the Orange will need to lose one scholarship player in order to make room for Thompson. Cooney and Gbinije leaving will be replaced by Moyer and Battle on scholarship and bring the Orange right back up to their current allotment of 10. Or they could get a scholarship back from the NCAA with their appeal. Either way, Thompson would be a nice commitment for the Orange and would add to their front court depth.
