Syracuse Field Hockey Sweeps ACC Awards as ACC Tournament Looms

Alma Fenne, Alyssa Manley, Roos Weers and coach Ange Bradley took home individual ACC awards.

The Syracuse Orange field hockey team finished the 2015 regular season 16-0 and No. 1 in the nation. So it stands to reason that they were probably going to pick up a few postseason ACC awards while they were at it.

They basically picked up all of them.

ACC Offensive Player of the Year: Senior midfielder Alma Fenne, who co-led the team with 33 points and 13 goals.
ACC Defensive Player of the Year: Senior midfielder Alyssa Manley, who led a defensive effort that only allowed 13 goals in 16 games.
ACC Rookie of the Year: Freshman Roos Weers, who tied Fenne for the team lead with 33 points and 13 goals.
ACC Coach of the Year: Head coach Ange Bradley, who also won Big East Coach of the Year three times.

Manley, Fenne and Weers were also named to the All-ACC First Team while senior forward Emma Russell, sophomore midfielder Laura Hurff and senior goaltender Jess Jecko were all named All-ACC Second Team.

That's all well and good but now it's time to win the ACC Tournament. Play begins on Thursday and Syracuse awaits the winner of No. 4 Duke taking on No. 5 Virginia. The 1-seed Orange will take on whoever wins on Friday at 1 p.m. The game will be televised on the ACC RSN as well as ESPN3.
