Rivalry7-6, Louisville

Current Streak: 1, Louisville

First Meeting: The rivalry got underway in 1985 and the brutish Orangemen destroyed the Cardinals 48-0 in the Carrier Dome.

International Meeting: Syracuse not only beat Louisville in 1987 but they annexed Japan while they were at it. SU defeated the Cardinals in the Coca-Cola Bowl in Tokyo, Japan, 24-13, the only time Syracuse has played outside the U.S.

Last MeetingNot good. Poor clock management, inability to score when it mattered and questionable play doomed the Orange in a 28-6 loss that was followed with Scott Shafer's infamous ISIS comments.

Head Coaches: SU: Scott Shafer (3rd Year, 13-20), Louisville: Bobby Petrino (6th Year overall, 54-17)

Curious Connections: Orange defensive coordinator Chuck Bullough and Louisville DC Todd Grantham were members of the same Michigan State coaching staff in 1997- 98. Bullough coached the Spartan defensive backs (1997) and offensive linemen (1998). Grantham was Michigan State’s defensive line coach.

Last Year: The Cardinals debuted in the ACC and finished the season 9–4 (5–3), good for third place in the Atlantic Division. They lost to Georgia in the Belk Bowl.

Last Game: After an 0-3 start, the Cardinals evened their record at 4-4 overall after a 20-19 win at Wake Forest on Friday night. The Cardinals recorded four interceptions and four sacks while limiting the Deacs to 266 yards of total offense,

"Fear Me, I've Killed Hundreds of Timelords": While we wait to see what awaits us at the quarterback position, keep your eyes on the Cardinals defense. After being held to three sacks through the first three games, they've exploded with 21 sacks over the next five, including four last week. Trevon Young has eight sacks in the last three games.

If Syracuse Wins: My God, we might have a shot at this whole bowl thing after all. Not to mention we'd actually win a road game. It'd be rather impressive.

If Syracuse Loses: Whatever arguments you've been having about the employment status of Scott Shafer are only going to get louder and more heated.

Fun Fact: The last time Syracuse won at Louisville? Greg Robinson's finest achievement.
