The Syracuse Orange. The Connecticut Huskies. The Bahamas.
Just like old times.
The former Big East rivals clash once more as they meet in the semifinals of the 2015 Battle 4 Atlantis. The ball is scheduled to tip at 3:30 p.m. in Imperial Arena in the Bahamas. The game will be televised on ESPN and ESPN3 (sorry, AXS).
Syracuse got here by defeating Charlotte with a bevy of three-pointers on Wednesday, 83-70. Michael Gbinije led the way with 26 points (18 on 3's). Trevor Cooney followed with 19 and Tyler Lydon had a breakout game with 18 points, eight rebounds and six blocks. If he keeps this up, maybe he should be starting...
UConn got here by breaking away early from the Michigan Wolverines and not letting up for 74-60 victory on Wednesday evening. The Huskies got 16 points and nine rebounds from Daniel Hamilton to lead the way.
You may remember the Huskies from such things as "The Big East" and "Six Overtimes." The last time these two teams met was in 2013 when Kevin Ollie faced SU for the first time and his Huskies three-pointed the Orange to death, 68-55. We look to return the favor today.
The all-time series is 54-37 in favor of the Orange.
The winner of the game will play the winner of the Gonzaga - Texas A&M semifinal to see who wins Atlantis and gets to rule it at the bottom of the ocean. The losers will play one another in the 3rd Place game.
So leave your pre-, in- and post-game comments below. And just be ready...
The Bahamas Weather Service has issued a SEVERE OVERTIME WARNING for the region on Thursday.
