Syracuse Injury Report: Eric Dungey Among 7 Orange Players Out vs. NC State

A whole slew of players are out this weekend...

Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

Syracuse's weekly (during ACC play) injury report is out, and as expected, Eric Dungey is out once again with an "upper body injury" that some are assuming is a concussion -- though we're not really sure what's ailing him, to be honest. After taking another really tough hit against Louisville in garbage time a couple weeks back, the Syracuse Orange coaching staff has kept things pretty close to the vest regarding his health.

With Dungey out, that means Zack Mahoney will make his third start of the season (and his career), against NC State this Saturday. The Orange walk-on also started against LSU and Clemson, with a pretty fair amount of success, all things considered.

Dungey is one of seven players listed as "out" for Syracuse. Others include:

DE Luke Arciniega (upper body)

WR Sean Avant (lower body)

LB Parris Bennett (upper body)

S Daivon Ellison (upper body)

TE Kendall Moore (upper body)

CB Corey Winfield (lower body)

Tight end Josh Parris is also listed as questionable (upper body), which could force Cam MacPherson or Tyler Provo (or both) into action, should he not be able to go. Hopefully they leave Trey Dunkelberger alone at this point and allow his redshirt to stay intact... (update: he might not have a shirt)

The one positive development from this report is that Jordan Fredericks -- who came out in the first half last week and was in a sling -- is not on it at all. That doesn't mean he'll definitely play against the Wolfpack, mind you. Mind certainly increases the likelihood that he's doing alright after the injury five days ago.

Hope you're ready for "The Officer," Part Three. Funny enough, State's the weakest opponent Mahoney will face to-date.
