Syracuse vs. NC State: Wolfpack Open as 17-Point Favorite Over Orange

It took a little longer than usual but eventually the oddsmakers installed SU as the definitive underdog.

It took a little while for Vegas to set a line for the game between the Syracuse Orange and N.C. State Wolfpack this weekend. Maybe they were waiting to see what the news was on the quarterback front. Syracuse's silence on the status of Eric Dungey so far perhaps told them what they needed to know and the Wolfpack have been installed as a 17-point favorite.

Couple SU's seven-game losing streak with the fact that they have yet to win a game away from the Carrier Dome this season and it's not too hard to see why Vegas is leaning NC State's way, even if the home team has lost four of their last six.

The Orange are coming off of a hard-fought 37-27 loss to the No. 1 Clemson Tigers, which you would think might work in their favor. But Vegas probably remembers what happened after SU's hard-fought loss to mighty LSU. They followed it up with a stinker on the road to the South Florida Bulls.

The Wolfpack are coming off of a 34-17 loss to Florida State themselves. With surging UNC looming, NC State needs a win here to solidify their place in the ACC bowl game pecking order.

Last year, NC State snagged a 24-17 win over the Orange in the Dome.
