Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey will not play in Saturday's game against Clemson, according to an injury report released Thursday evening by Syracuse.
Late in last week's game against Louisville, Cardinals linebacker James Hearns hit Dungey in his collarbone area as the quarterback scrambled upfield. Dungey lay on the field for a few moments before walking off and exiting to the locker room. Afterward, there was some debate about whether Dungey should have been in the game to begin with, since the Orange were trailing 41-10 and less than five minutes remained in the game.
Saturday's game will mark the second Dungey has missed this season. He sat out Sept. 26 against LSU with an apparent concussion. Zack Mahoney started in his place, throwing for three second half touchdowns in a 34-24 loss. Mahoney will start again against Clemson at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
